Previous windows installations delete. A true merge will reject identical lines from multiple files and only copy from the file that contains that line. This program does NOT do that.

Works great, no need to install, just run the .exe. But, do these things first, before you merge: 1: Put all the files you want to join together into one folder, all by themselves. 2: Name the files so that computer naming conventions put them in the desired order. A batch file-renaming utility is very useful for this. Remember, file number 'aa-9' comes *after* file 'aa-8999' in computer order, so it needs to be named 0009, and so on. 3: Direct Free File Merge to the right folder. 4: Name your output file. 5. When you can't find your output file after File Merge seems to be done, look for it either in the same directory where the filemerge.exe lives, or on the desktop. Enjoy the result.

This software is very basic, but very effective at what it does. I've joined dozens of html files together using this software and it's saved me a number of headaches. I highly recommend this if you need something that'll slap together files without any bells and whistles.

Well, the software is basic. It's somewhat tricky figuring out how to get files to join in a certain order (it goes by alpha-numeric order, I think). It also lacks documentation.

What exactly are you trying to create?You may be going to great expense and, yet be able to accomplish what you need with Pages. Pages is available on the Mac App Store and quite robust.
Graham MilnIf you want a full list of Publisher alternatives for Mac, this may be helpful. I've seen Apple Pages produce some nice documents though it may be more simplistic than Publisher in many respects.

I'm going to vote for QuarkXpress as a replacement for Publisher. Serious pros either use InDesign or QuarkXpress, and the latter has the advantage of not requiring a subscription fee, as Adobe products do. It's not as cheap as iStudio Publisher, but it's much more feature-rich. As they say, you get what you pay for.
DaveDaveYou can open Publisher files on Mac using a conversion tool and then convert the .pub file to PDF and open it that way. MS Word also has a Publishing Layout View function which is similar to Publisher. However, for the best alternative, I think Pages does a pretty god job although it's more like Word. For Pros, go with Adobe InDesign. This is a pretty good article on alternatives to Publisher on Mac too.

SimonSimonNo one has pointed out here that although there is no version of Publisher for Mac, some of the functionality of Publisher is available in Word for Mac by selecting the 'Publishing Layout View'. However, it is nowhere near as functional as Publisher and you're definitely better-off using one of the many excellent Publisher alternatives on Mac particularly InDesign or Quark.
The Best option is definitely InDesign. But it's also probably the most expensive one.
